Virtual Field Trip to Spectral Motion - The Art and Science of Creature FX
by Stan Winston School
On November 22nd, 2013 we brought school children from around the country along on our first ever Virtual Field Trip as part of Google’s new “Connected Classrooms” initiative.
We visited Hollywood character creation studio Spectral Motion (Hellboy, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Pacific Rim), where Spectral Motion founder Mike Elizalde led us all on a 45 minute tour of his incredible facility, sharing the steps that go into realizing fantasy characters for the screen, including design, sculpture, painting and animatronics.
The Pitch Box is a open call for you to pitch an idea you have for a video essay. Interested in the way Kubrick uses color in A Clockwork Orange or how to use dialogue in an opening scene? Tell us what you want to see.
