WALL-E is one of the best examples of film as a visual medium from the past few years, not only for its gorgeous computer animation, but also because it lets the story be told mostly without words for the first half of the film. Yet despite its merits and being praised by critics, the film has received a surprising amount of backlash from viewers. In this video essay, Leon Thomas mounts a defense of WALL-E, addressed to anyone out there with a negative view of the film.
