Danny "Dutch" Boyle
In this video essay, Jacob T. Swinney discusses the Dutch angle, created when the camera is tilted to some degree on its horizontal axis. While this effect is often employed stylistically, without good cause, Swinney illustrates how filmmaker Danny Boyle uses Dutch angles to evoke subconscious feelings in the audience or to give us insight to the inner workings of one of his characters.
