#84. Death on the Stairs // Morts sur les marches
Stairs have a very important place in the history of cinema. From Battleship Potemkin to The Godfather Part III, without forgetting Alfred Hitchcock’s masterful use, they are a common source of suspense, melodramatic intensity, and even terror. Often used as a visual metaphor, their vertical morphology makes them also the ideal medium for tragedy. In this brief video essay, Trois Couleurs compiles some of the most interesting and horrible deaths on the stairs.
