Do you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur ?
Ahh … the dream. Start your own business, make it successful and don’t ever have to worry about having to work for anyone ever again.
Per Wikipedia - An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of an enterprise, or venture, and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. It is an ambitious leader who combines land, labor, and capital to often create and market new goods or services.
While everyone has a dream, few ever take up the challenge. The usual reasons abound: Mortgage, kids, car payments etc. A quick search on the internet will tell you the the traits of a entrepreneur. Confidence, Leadership quality, Problem solver etc. What most articles don’t tell you is how to make the switch. You are at a job and itching to be an entrepreneur. So what does it take ?
In our opinion, two things. Passion and Vision. Are you a visionary to see where your market/segment will be in a few years ? Are a passionate enough about your idea to let go of everything at least for a few years ? Have these two and the rest will take care of itself. Passionate entrepreneurs move mountains to make ideas happen. Visionary entrepreneurs will tell the world where it will be in a few years and make their business the primary driver of that change.
Are you ready to be an entrepreneur ? We say start early and take all the risks that you can. Suburbia and mortgages can wait … they are always there for you.
