Yahoo is a great company with talented employees, but leadership is clueless as to how to make the best of it.

Pros:

Yahoo is a fun-filled environment and the fact that your work affects millions of users is inspiring. Good people, fair compensation and a great chance for professional project development make Yahoo an ideal employer. As a software engineer, it doesn't matter what your specialization is; you have a chance to use it all. There is appreciation for work done and teams cooperate with each other to get things done.

Cons:

There is a lack of clear direction from management. Senior and middle management are disconnected from rank-and-file employees and these uncertainties lead to an unmotivated work force. Ideas from within the organization are not valued. Yahoo is constantly ‘catching up’ with other companies, instead of leading the way by exploring new and interesting products.
